Southwest China’s Guizhou Province has earmarked nearly 200 billion yuan (32.6 billion U.S. dollars) for a huge expressway project.

The Guizhou Expressway Ring project, which was launched Tuesday, will see 1,952 kilometers of expressway built at a cost of 197.8 billion yuan. It is expected to circle the province by 2018, said provincial transportation department head Chen Zhigang.

According to Chen, the expressway will make 33 tourist resorts much more accessible, such as world natural heritage site of Libo karsts and the Buddhist mountain of Fanjing.
